Privacy Policy — EzSplit

Effective date: 26 July 2026  •  App: EzSplit — Group & Trip Expense Splitter (com.aditanix.ezsplit)
Developer: Aditanix Technologies  •  Contact: support@aditanix.com

The short version

EzSplit is an offline expense-splitting tool. Your groups, members, expenses, splits, settlements and budgets are stored on your device. We run no servers, require no account, and never see, collect, upload or sell your data. Android's own backup service also keeps an encrypted copy in your personal Google account so your data survives a reinstall or a new phone — that copy belongs to you and Aditanix has no access to it (see section 5). The only third-party service inside the app is Google AdMob, which shows advertisements.

1. Data you create in the app

All records you enter (groups, members, expenses, splits, settlements, budgets, settings) are saved in a local database on your phone. This data never leaves your device unless you choose to share it — for example by sending a PDF statement or WhatsApp summary, exporting a CSV, or saving a backup file to your own Google Drive or email. Files you share or back up are governed by the service you send them to. Foreign-currency amounts and exchange rates you enter for offline multi-currency expenses are calculated on your device and never transmitted anywhere.

2. Permissions we request and why

EzSplit does not request Camera, Contacts, SMS, or Location access. The one-tap payment reminder feature opens your device's normal share sheet with a pre-filled message — you choose who to send it to (e.g. via WhatsApp); EzSplit never reads your contacts.

3. Advertising (Google AdMob)

EzSplit is free and supported by ads served by Google AdMob. To serve and measure ads, Google may collect device information such as the advertising ID, IP address, coarse device data, and ad-interaction events. Where required (e.g. EEA/UK), a consent form is shown and you can change your choice anytime in Settings → Ad privacy options inside the app. Learn more: How Google uses ad data · Google Privacy Policy. You can also reset or delete your advertising ID in your device's Google settings.

4. What we do NOT do

5. Android Auto Backup (your Google account)

EzSplit uses Android Auto Backup, a standard operating-system feature. Android periodically copies the app's data (your groups, expenses and settings) into your own Google account so it can be restored automatically if you reinstall EzSplit or set up a new phone. Important points:

Google's handling of backup data is governed by the Google Privacy Policy. If you prefer to keep everything strictly on-device, disable Backup in Android settings and use the app's manual Export backup file option instead, which produces a file that only you control.

6. Data retention & deletion

Your data stays on your device for as long as you keep the app. Deleting a group or expense in-app removes it from the local database. Uninstalling EzSplit permanently deletes the app's local database from your device. Any Android Auto Backup copy held in your Google account is managed by you through Android Settings → Google → Backup, where it can also be deleted. Backup files you exported yourself remain wherever you saved them and are yours to delete.

7. Children

EzSplit is a general-audience utility intended for adults and is not directed at children under 13 (or the applicable age of digital consent in your region).

8. Security

Data is stored in your device's private app storage, protected by Android's application sandbox. Protect your backup files as you would any personal financial document.

9. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a new effective date.
